We at Center of Ocular Prosthetics strive for perfection and don’t settle for less. Because we have the expertise in both medicine and ocularistry, our understanding of Uganda and East African healthcare system prompts us to find solutions that are not available. These include lack of ocularists in East and Central Africa. Right now East and Central Africa does not have a person who fits and makes custom-made prosthetic eyes besides us. We also noticed that our healthcare system lacks a well-thought-out system to diagnose disease, which leaves us spending more money in healthcare and even unavoidable results like death, suffering and disability. For these reasons, these are the services we offer.

We create high detail, realistic prostheses that always impress. Our solutions can range depending on your age, and also whether your eye has been damaged or lost due to trauma, disease, or birth conditions.

Preventive Medicine

It's said, prevention is always better than cure, and there is no perfect time for preventive measures than as soon as possible. This depends on the age even though we prioritize the geriatrics (elderly) and institution-based health injury prevention.

Medical Consult

Do you need a second opinion? A medical consult is a procedure whereby, upon request by one healthcare provider, another healthcare provider reviews a patient's medical history, examines the patient, and makes recommendations as to care and treatment.

The purpose of a prosthetic eye is to create and maintain natural eye lid positions, natural tear production and flow and also to restore the normal symmetrical appearance of the eyes.

I started my journey to become an ocularist while I was about 14 years old when I read a Readers Digest book my mum come with from a foreign trip. It had a story of a kid who lost an eye, and he got one painted and custom-made for him. The dream went to ‘sleep’ for some years. What Ugandans should know before seeking healthcare second opinion.

Almost always your diagnosis will change between doctor to doctor in Uganda. As an insider of the system, I am going to tell you why this happens. In 2017 Mayo clinic in Minnesota conducted a research, according to that study published in the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice, found out that 20% of the time; the final diagnosis was completely different from the original diagnosis after seeking a second opinion.
